I’ve taken a passionate liking to my “visual cultures of the non-western world” art history class. I could go on for days listing contemporary non-western artists I’ve grown fond of but Shirin Neshat stands out in my book. Google her work and your jaw will drop…got inspired for some upcoming works thanks to her. Some of her stunning black and white photographs…this is part of one of her series Women of Allah. It powerfully and universally captures the repressed position of women in her native country. Enjoy.
